Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of halal transportation principles in the online purchase and delivery of the Qur’an through JNT Express Distribution Center 3 TKG 11 in Tanjungkarang, Bandar Lampung. In the era of digital commerce, ensuring halal compliance in logistics has become increasingly important, particularly for products with significant religious value, such as the Qur’an. However, issues related to improper handling and random stacking of parcels during delivery, including those containing sacred texts, were identified. This research aimed to assess whether JNT Express’s delivery practices aligned with halal transportation standards as outlined in Islamic ethical principles. The study employed a field-based, descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data were collected through structured interviews with JNT Express staff and direct observations of operational processes, supplemented by secondary data from relevant documents and previous studies. The data were analyzed inductively to draw general conclusions. The findings revealed that while JNT Express had not yet obtained formal halal certification, the company had implemented several preventive measures to uphold the sanctity and safety of the Qur’an during transportation. These measures included proper packaging, clear labeling, and specific placement procedures to prevent disrespectful handling. The practices were consistent with key Sharia values, demonstrating a growing awareness of halal logistics within the courier service sector. The results suggest that incorporating halal transportation standards into delivery operations could enhance consumer trust and promote ethical logistics practices within the e-commerce industry.
