Abstract

This systematic literature review examined the implementation of halal certification within digital platforms, focusing on emerging technologies such as blockchain, e-certification, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The main objective was to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges associated with the digitalization of halal certification, relevant literature was analyzed from databases including Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, revealing a range of insights into the halal certification process. The findings highlighted that blockchain technology can enhance traceability, integrity, and trust in halal certification, thus addressing consumer concerns about the compliance of products with Islamic dietary laws. The study also illustrated that the adoption of e-certification could streamline processes and improve accessibility for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the halal sector. It emphasized the necessity of government support in facilitating these technological shifts and overcoming existing barriers such as lack of knowledge and infrastructure. A conceptual model for the digital transformation of halal certification was proposed, marking a significant contribution to the current scholarly discourse on halal governance. This model serves as a roadmap for future research and practical applications in enhancing the efficiency and credibility of halal certification practices globally.
